Repository and Archiving Policy
The Journal of Multidisciplinary and Translational Research (JMTR) is committed to the long-term preservation, accessibility, and open dissemination of its published scholarly content. To support the continued availability of its articles and associated metadata, JMTR maintains the following repository, archiving, and backup arrangements.
1. Digital Preservation Services
JMTR participates in the LOCKSS/ CLOCKSS/ Portico, which allows participating libraries to harvest the journal's content and create permanent distributed archives for preservation and restoration.
2. Institutional Repository of the University of Kelaniya
JMTR participates in the open access dissemination and preservation of research through the Institutional Repository of the University of Kelaniya (UoK):

All JMTR journal articles from 2023 onwards are included or being systematically added to the University of Kelaniya Repository.
The repository functions as a secondary, secure platform to access and preserve the content published in the journal in addition to the JMTR website.
3. External Backups
Additional copies of JMTR content are maintained on secure external storage devices to provide redundancy and protect against data loss, hardware failure, or other technical disruptions.
Versions That May Be Deposited
JMTR permits deposition of the version of the manuscript submitted by the author(s) as a pre-print in suitable pre-print repositories prior to peer review.
Furthermore, JMTR permits the following versions of articles to be deposited in the University of Kelaniya Repository and other institutional, subject, or general repositories:
- Accepted Version (Author Accepted Manuscript – AAM)
o The version after peer review and acceptance, but before copyediting and typesetting by the journal. - Published Version (Version of Record – VoR)
o The final, formatted version published on the JMTR website (PDF).
o This is the preferred version to be depositted in the University of Kelaniya Repository.
Authors are encouraged to clearly indicate that the article is published in JMTR and include the full citation and URL of the version of record.
Embargo
- JMTR does not impose any embargo on self-archiving or repository deposit.
- Articles may be deposited in institutional or subject repositories, and in the University of Kelaniya Repository, immediately upon publication on the JMTR website.
Licensing and Copyright
JMTR is an open access journal. All articles are freely available to readers without subscription barriers via the JMTR website and the University of Kelaniya Repository.
License
All articles published in JMTR are licensed under the:
Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike (CC BY-NC-SA) license.
Under this license:
- Users are free to share (copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format) and adapt (remix, transform, and build upon the material).
- Attribution must be given to the original author(s) and JMTR as the source of first publication.
- The material may not be used for commercial purposes.
- If the material is remixed, transformed, or built upon, the resulting contributions must be distributed under the same license (CC BY-NC-SA) as the original.

Copyright and Author Rights
- Copyright in the articles remains with the author(s), while granting JMTR the right of first publication.
- Authors retain the right to:
- Deposit all versions (pre-print, accepted manuscript, and published version) in institutional, subject, or personal repositories.
- Use the article in future works (such as books or teaching materials), with appropriate acknowledgment of JMTR as the original place of publication.
When depositing or reusing their work, authors should:
- Provide a full citation of the original publication in JMTR.
- Include a link to the article on the JMTR website, where possible.
- Clearly indicate that the article is licensed under CC BY-NC-SA.
Preservation and Access
- The JMTR Editorial Office works with the Library/Repository Team of the University of Kelaniya to ensure that the final published articles and their metadata are deposited in the University of Kelaniya Repository.
- Repository records include:
- Full-text PDF of the published article (Version of Record)
- Complete bibliographic metadata (title, authors, affiliations, abstract, keywords, volume, issue, pages, publication year, DOI where available)
- A link to the version of record on the JMTR website
Through these combined repository, digital preservation, and backup arrangements, JMTR aims to maintain continued access to its published scholarly content and associated bibliographic information. The Editorial Office periodically reviews these arrangements to support the ongoing preservation, accessibility, and integrity of the journal's content.
